How to completely reset an Android Motorola

Posted In HOW TO DO! - By DailyAndroidNews on Sunday, January 5th, 2014 With No Comments »

There are numerous articles online that offer instructions to “fully restore” or “partially restore” your Motorola Droid. Most of these instructions are contradictory and therefore there is no way to verify that the steps will not harm your phone . Rather than take that risk, Motorola suggests two ways to reset your Droid if you have problems with it: recovery from failures and factory reset.

Instructions

  1. Turn your Motorola Droid and put it on a firm surface with a soft cloth to protect the screen below.
  2. Remove the back cover to reveal your Motorola Droid phone battery.
  3. Remove the battery and leave the phone off for a moment.
  4. Replace the battery in the same way you found it, making sure the contacts are connected.
  5. Replace the cover and turn the Droid phone again.

Factory Restore

  1. Make a backup of Droid data to an external source, like a computer, if the phone is operational.
  2. Press the “Menu” key on your Droid and tap the “Settings” option.
  3. Click “Privacy”, “Factory data reset” and then “Reset Phone” option to restore your Droid to factory settings.
  4. Wait for the Droid to reboot and then reload all data from the backup unless you suspect that you have downloaded an application which is causing problems with your phone.
