Yesterday we let you know that Google was releasing an Android Device Manager, to locate and secure your Android devices, later this month. While the service is not available yet, some parts of the app infrastructure are already getting in place. Google is rolling-out the update 3.2.25 to the Google Play Services bringing with it the Android Device Manager, but also another treat, Photo Sphere’s Compass Mode.

Regarding the Android Device Manager, you won’t be locating your phone with it at least for now, neither will you be wiping your device clean as the update simply brings the option to activate the Android Device Manager to your phone’s settings. Since the service isn’t online yet this acts simpy as a place holder for Android’s upcoming feature.

As for the treat found in this Play Services update, Photo Sphere seems to have a new feature similar to one already found on Google Maps and Street View apps for Android. As soon as you get the update you’ll be able to navigate your photo sphere using your phone’s compass. Move your device one way and so will the Photo Sphere. If you’ve got the update then you should have an arrow icon in the lower left corner of the screen when viewing a Photo Sphere.

If you’ve got the update you should find the Android Device Manager option under Settings/Security/Device Administrators, but if not you can always install the update yourself at your own risk by following the download links below. If you can already see this new features let us know in the comment section below.
