If you want a tablet to be your cooking companion while looking through recipes or watching Rachael Ray for cooking tips, Archos has you covered, apparently. Today they’ve just announced and made official the Archos ChefPad. And yes we’re serious. This slate will bring Jelly Bean and dual-core power to your kitchen. Check it out below.

This kitchen companion is a new budget friendly cheaper tablet from the folks at Archos, and will be helping you with all sorts of food activities. You can follow along recipes and videos with the built-in stand, or even do a Google+ Hangout with Mom for those cooking tips you never remembered while growing up. This would have been a great tablet to announce, you know, before Mothers Day, not after.

The Archos ChefPad has some decent specs, but you probably shouldn’t use it as a cutting board. They say it is “a specially designed cooking assistant made for both the kitchen and personal entertainment.” The Chefpad comes with a 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 resolution display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage for recipes and more, as well as a micro-SD slot for expanding storage.

Archos was nice enough to include both a front and rear camera, both 2 megapixels, and the tablet comes with a built-in stand for easy reading and viewing for aspiring cooks. This food-centric tablet also comes loaded with food inspired wallpapers, as well as a host of apps and “Chef’s apps” that will filter through content and deliver recipes and more to the user.

Lastly Archos confirmed the stand is adjustable, and the silicon design will protect it from those occasional splashes and spills, but they in no way mention anything about it being splash-proof. So take that as you will. Enjoy your latest culinary creations by working with the Archos ChefPad, which will be available starting in June for around $209.
