Even More Galaxy S IV Rumours

Posted In News, Reviews - By AndroidPress on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 With No Comments »

The Galaxy S IV is undoubtedly the most anticipated new Android phone of 2013 and as such people can’t stop talking about it.  And as people talk and speculate rumour come forward, many of them true, some of them straight speculation.  Today we have some more rumours regarding the S IV and they seem like they could be legit as they’re coming from a pretty reputable source, SamMobile.

To begin with, the codename for the Galaxy S IV has now been changed from “Project J” to “Altius J” (from my Googling, Altius may be Latin for ”higher” but I could be wrong).  Not the most incredible news but interesting nonetheless.  The Altius is supposed to launch in black and white, a change from their choice to go colourful with the Galaxy S III but one that I welcome.

The device is also set to feature wireless charing and a 2600 mAh battery to keep you going all day long.  It seems that wireless charging won’t be standard out of the box but instead you will need to purchase the wireless charging dock which will include a new back cover to enable the ability.  On the plus side, we can assume that we’ll still have removable batteries, something other manufacturers have began to shy away from.

Finally, it seems like we may have a more concrete release date.  We already let you know that the device will likely be announced at Samsung’s own “Unpacked Event” in March, but the latest rumours also state that the device should launch on April 15, 2013.  The Galaxy S III launched in May so the time frame seems about right.

What do you guys think of the latest rumours ?  What seems plausible?  What seems out of left field?  What would you like to see on the next Galaxy S?
