Key Lime Pie, the next Android version to come later down the road is giving its first signs on the World Wide Web. Although not in a conventional way, as the evidence was found on the Chromium bug tracker.

A user fiddling around with the Chromium bug tracker (Chromium is Chrome’s open source base) reported that there were tests running on a variety of mobile devices including a Nexus 7 and Nexus 4. Nothing special here, but these Nexus android devices were listed running a build of Android with code number KRS36B.

For the less tech-savvy most jelly bean builds out there have a code beginning with the letter “J” for Jelly Bean. If you have an Android device running jelly bean you can check it out on Settings/About Phone under Build Number. For that reason, a different build initial would indicate a new Android version, with the letter “K” further confirming the possibility of this being Key Lime Pie or Android 5.0.

However, there is nothing on the Chromium bug post that can give us any more info on the Key Lime Pie and since Google has yet to officially announce it is even working on Key Lime Pie everything here could end up being just a bug in the bug post. Nonetheless, it is always cool to know that possibly there’s something above Android 4.3 already out there. Perhaps we could see a fall announcement with maybe a new Nexus device. Perhaps, maybe … we’ll have to wait and see as for now this bug post is all we have. Leave your comments on the section below.
