Google Releases New Video About Project Glass UI (And It’s Pretty Cool)

Google this morning released a video preview of its upcoming wearable headset offering an exciting glimpse into some of the many ways we can expect to use these things. Although a similar video was released last year upon the announcement of Project Glass, today’s preview offers quite a bit more details as to how Project Glass is intended to work. The video depicts several people engaged in physical activities during which they simply provide voice commands to their headset to take photos, videos, provide directions, get translations, and communicate with others.

A Google spokesman spoke about Glass with The Verge, commenting on where the project is at in terms of its development progress, ”It’s certainly early days of the device — there will be bumps, but what’s cool is that we’re approaching the time when people will be able to take Glass out into the world and start exploring what’s possible with a device like this.”

Glass is expected to be launched by early 2014, though we should note that Google is already pushing out developer editions for a cool $1500. When these things finally hit the market next year, expect them to run you anywhere between $500 and $1000, so I would start saving now. If Glass turns out to be anything similar to what we see in the video below, it will be a monumental achievement and advancement for the Android platform.
