iWatch Display Causing Battery Life Issues, Report Says

Apple’s iWatch is still a rumor for all we know right now, though most pundits think Cupertino is going to get its feet wet in the wearable industry next year. Just a few days ago a rumor out of China suggested that Apple was facing issues with the iWatch yields, largely due to coating used on the surface of this still unannounced product. Now, another rumor describes new roadblocks.

According to The Information, Apple’s running into a problem with its choice of display for the smartwatch. Apparently the screen technology is sucking too much battery life out of Apple’s iWatch, which means it’s not meeting Apple’s standards for battery life. That’s going to be key: Samsung’s Galaxy Gear was slaughtered in reviews for its poor battery life, while the Pebble smartwatch has received acclaim for its 5-7 days of juice.

There’s not much to worry about here, thankfully. The Information said that there are not enough issues with the iWatch display to push back the launch. Maybe Apple figures it can solve any issues through future software updates? If battery life is indeed a concern, we have a hard time believing it’s not enough of an issue to push back mass production.
