Lava rolls out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Iris 501 smartphone

Lava is a company that makes Android devices that some users may not be familiar with. The company tends to produce a number of devices that are very inexpensive aimed at developing markets such as India. The company has announced that it has a new update for its Iris 501 smartphone.


The update is rolling out now and brings the Iris 501 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The operating system update brings a number of new features to the smartphone that will be appreciated by users of the device. One of the more important features is Google tech called Project Butter.

Project Butter promises to make phone’s interface smoother. The update is easy to apply by going into the software update section of the smartphone into the About Phone settings page. The update will be detected, downloaded, and then installed automatically.

The Iris 501 launched in January of this year and is a dual SIM smartphone. The phone has a 1 GHz dual-core processor and a five-inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 400. The device has a five-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera. Storage is via an included 4 GB memory card.
