LG F Series

It looks like LG is preparing to flood the market in 2013.  We already know about the L Series sequels, the L3II, L5II, and L7II and we’ve also seen their take at the phablet in the Optimus G Pro.  Now they’ve announced another two phones that will be launching as part of their new F-Series.  We introduce to you the F5 and F7.  Here are the specs:

Optimus F5 Key Specifications:

  • – Operating System: Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2
  • – Processor: 1.2 GHz Dual-Core
  • – Display: 4.3-inch IPS (256 ppi)
  • – Size: 126.0 x 64.5 x 9.3mm
  • – Memory: 8 GB / 1 GB RAM / microSD (up to 32GB)
  • – Camera: 5.0 MP AF / 1.3 MP
  • – Battery: 2,150mAh

Optimus F7 Key Specifications:

  • – Operating System: Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2
  • – Processor: 1.5 GHz Dual-Core
  • – Display: 4.7-inch True HD IPS (312 ppi)
  • – Size: 131.7 x 68.2 x 9.6mm
  • – Memory: 8 GB / 2 GB RAM /microSD (up to 32GB)
  • – Camera: 8.0 MP AF / 1.3 MP
  • – Battery: 2,540mAh

According to their press release, the F-Series is supposed to bring “a premium user experience and the speed of 4G LTE to a mass audience.”  The way that I understand that is that the F-Series is an “almost” flagship series.  If the Optimus G’s are the top of the chain and the L Series is at the bottom, the F-Series is in between.   However, LG isn’t done as there appears to be a V series on the horizon as well.  We’ll have to wait and see what that one will entail and how it’ll fit into the LG food chain.

All in all, these two F-Series phones look like pretty solid offerings.  LG is definitely on the right track this year in terms of becoming relevant again.  I’m still not sold on their software but they’re definitely doing good things over there right now.
