Motorola Moto X Skip wearable accessory appears, tap to unlock phone

A new accessory exclusive only to the Moto X has appeared on Motorola’s online store. But Motorola seems to be asking for quite a hefty price for an item that has nothing but a short, vague description and a seemingly edited photo.

We were able to get an extended experience with the newly launched Motorola Moto X, which you can read about here. In a nutshell, while the Moto X may not have top of the line hardware compared to its peers, it definitely makes up for it with features that that make it easy to use the phone without having to fumble too much with controls. Things like always on voice command recognition, flick-based camera quick launch, and the like come to mind.

This is probably the line of thinking that Motorola had when it designed the Motorola Skip. As mentioned, there is nothing much to say about the mysterious item other than it is a wearable accessory that can be used to unlock the Moto X with a single tap. It will probably take the form of an NFC-enabled clip that you can tap the phone on to unlock it instead of having to use multiple taps or button presses.

Motorola is offering the Skip for a limited time to MotoMaker. It’s tagged at $19.99, which might be a bit high for an accessory, even one with an NFC chip. It seems like a high price to pay, especially for something that has so few details.
