NVIDIA SHIELD test drive booths launching in select cities next month

Lately we’ve been seeing these Experience shops for Samsung devices in stores like Best Buy, and the folks from NVIDIA are aiming to do something similar for their upcoming Android-powered game console, the NVIDIA SHIELD. In a recent blog post NVIDIA confirmed you’ll be able to test drive SHIELD before you buy it throughout the entire month of August.

It’s an odd idea, but potential buyers that are headed out to see Pacific Rim or other summer blockbuster movies will be able to stop by select theaters with “SHIELD Experience Centers” to try the Tegra 4 quad-core gaming system themselves. You’ll be able to learn all sorts of details about these little gaming devices too.

From now until the end of August these SHIELD experience centers will be live in two different locations in the SF Bay area, as well as the NYC area as well. NVIDIA will have staff on-hand to answer questions, and you can give the latest Dead Trigger 2 Android shooter game a try. Here’s where you’ll need to be headed to check it out yourself.

New York Area
Garden State 16 – 1 Garden State Plaza, Paramus, New Jersey
New Roc Stadium 18 – 33 Lecount Place, New Rochelle, New York

San Francisco Bay Area
Cupertino 16 – 10123 North Wolfe Road, Cupertino, California
Mercado 20 – 3111 Mission College Boulevard., Santa Clara, California

These SHIELD experience centers will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays throughout the entire month of August. As a reminder, the game console is still scheduled to launch and officially hit the market before the end of July, and we’ll update the moment we know more. For now hit the links below for our past coverage and hands-on with SHIELD.
