Qualcomm Leak Confirms Android 5.0 Coming This Spring

Posted In News, Reviews - By AndroidPress on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 With No Comments »

Earlier this week, a roadmap from chipset manufacturer Qualcomm leaked on the Internet. According to the folks over at Android Police, the blog who first reported details of the leaks, various slides describing Google and Qualcomm’s plans for the next few months also revealed that the K-release of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is indeed coming this spring.

Shortly after Android Police reported and shared the slides with readers, they were ordered to remove the information from their site. The reasons why have not been explained, and one can only wonder whether this was due to the sensitive information regarding Qualcomm’s chipsets described in the slides, or if Google is trying to keep its plans close to the chest.

In any case, this news really doesn’t come as a big surprise as we have been expecting Google to unveil its next iteration of Android at their upcoming I/O event in May. Releasing versions of Android at the developer conference has become a bit of a trend for Google – you may remember the company first showing off Jelly Bean to the world at the I/O event last year.

If the rumours hold true, along with Key Lime Pie, Google is expected to announce updated versions of the Nexus 7 and 10 tablets respectively, along with some kind of announcement regarding the Motorola X phone, Google’s first handset since acquiring the company last year.
