Ever since the Samsung Galaxy S4 got unveiled, the Korean manufacturer has announced that certain software features that are present on its latest flagship device will eventually be made available on the Galaxy S3 as well, as part of a future Android 4.2.2 update. Progress has been made in this regard, and last month we’ve reported that aleaked 4.2.2 ROM for the SGS3 hit the blogosphere, indicating that the official launch might not be too far away (relatively speaking).

Nevertheless, not every Galaxy S3 unit out there runs on the latest Android 4.1 version, so they still have some catching up to do. Fortunately, our friends in Canada can now update their Samsung Galaxy S3s to Android 4.1.2, as multiple carriers have recently started to roll-out the respective update. Details below.

Indeed ladies and gents, the majority of carriers in Canada are now rolling-out Android 4.1.2. Customers of Telus, Koodo, Fido, MTS and SaskTel can now pull the files over the air, or use Samsung Kies in order to do so. According to Bell and Rogers customers, the update has been rolled-out by these two carriers as well, so grab your cables or reach the settings menu and start the updating process.

The changelog includes features like an improved Camera app, an updated Gallery, improved HSPA+ download speeds, and more excitingly – the presence of Multi-Window. In case you’re not familiar with this TouchWiz feature that has been introduced last year, Multi-Window is a real multitasking tool that allows the user to open two applications on-screen at the same time, in a split-screen environment.

That’s pretty much it folks. Next stop: Android 4.2.2 and the new TouchWiz UI features introduced on the Galaxy S4. We’ll bring you up to speed once we learn more about that one. Until then, feel free to leave a comment below and let us know whether or not you’ve managed to bring your SGS3 up to Android 4.1.2.
