Samung Galaxy Trend Lite, Fame Lite sneaks into the Netherlands

Samsung has been known to spew off countless variants of its smartphones across the world, some of which don’t exactly make the news, either for their nondescript features or simply because Samsung itself doesn’t make a big splash about it. Two such phones, the Galaxy Trend Lite and the Galaxy Fame Lite, have quietly landed on the Netherlands and are, for all intents and purposes, simpler versions of their namesakes.

The Galaxy Trend Lite looks almost exactly similar to the original Galaxy Trend that launched in India. Both run on a 1 GHz dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM. They both sport a 4.0-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. The devices only have 4 GB of internal memory but can be expanded with a microSD card for up to 32 GB. Unlike the Galaxy Trend, however, it seems that the Galaxy Trend Lite does not have dual SIM support.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Fame Lite is pretty much a lower version of the Galaxy Fame. It’s processor is clocked at only 850 MHz, the rear camera has been downgraded to 3 megapixels, and the front-facing camera as well as NFC have been removed. Otherwise, the device retains the 3.5-inch HVGA 320×480 display, 512 MB RAM, and 4 GB storage of the original.

Despite the rather low hardware specs, both smartphones fortunately run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. No pricing details for the Netherlands have been released yet but one might expect these devices not to cost more than other branded budget smartphones in the market.
