Stitcher Radio update brings offline playback

Posted In News - By AndroidPress on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 With No Comments »

Stitcher Radio has rolled out the latest Android app update. The changelog for this particular update is on the shorter side, however even with fewer items listed — it appears to be one that will be appreciated. This Stitcher update is adding support for offline listening and also adding a left-side navigation drawer.

Beginning first with the offline mode. This is just as the name would imply — users will be able to cache music so they can listen when connectivity is not an option. This is ideal for traveling, such as when on an airplane. It could also prove useful for those who use a subway as part of their regular commute. Anyway, this offline mode will allow you to save any of your playlists.

The playlists that are marked for offline mode will download to your device in the background using WiFi. And for those concerned with excessive mobile data use, worry not as the Stitcher app is set by default to only download over WiFi. Those looking to take advantage of this feature need only to look for the “Available Offline” option that sits towards the upper right.

Shifting to the new left side navigation and we find an option that should serve to cut back on some navigation related tapping. This simply means that you will be able to swipe right from the left side of the screen to access the main menu. Otherwise, aside from these two new items, the changelog also mentions how “Stitcher is more reliable than ever, with improvements to playback and better management of memory.”
