Twitter pushes Android app update to squash a bug

Posted In News - By AndroidPress on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 With No Comments »

Earlier this month we talked about the new Twitter 4.0 application for Android users. That update brought with it a refreshed twitter user interface and some new features along with a native Android experience. One of the important features in the app update that proved problematic was the Me tab.

Not long after that update some users discovered a bug that prevented the Me tab from loading properly. Some users noticed that the Me tab never finished loading and only gave them a white screen with a spinning wheel on it. The big problem with the blog is that the Me tab is where you access all sorts of features for the Twitter application.

That tab is the location for switching accounts and other commonly used features. The good news was that you could access your profile content by searching for yourself via twitter and then tapping on your avatar to access your profile. That wasn’t exactly user-friendly though.

This week, Twitter released an update for the app that patches that Me tab problem and improves the user interface on Android honeycomb devices. The Twitter app update brings the app to version 4.0.1. If you never noticed the Me tab issue, it appeared to be limited to only a certain segment of the twitter user population. Users that were affected by the bug are reporting that the new update fixes the problem.
