Verizon Nexus 7 LTE to be certified soon

Posted In News - By AndroidPress on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013 With No Comments »

It was almost a case of bad publicity for Verizon when owners of the LTE version of the new Nexus 7 started reporting problems with the carrier’s activation process. Now we have an official statement explaining the issue, which will be resolved with a Verizon-certified device soon.

We earlier reported of how Verizon seemed uninterested in having the 2013 Nexus 7 on its 4G LTE network. While the tablet will work fine with Verizon, users have reported that they could not proceed with the activation. Verizon’s official Twitter support account later stated that the LTE tablet is not part of its line up and thus cannot be activated.

As promised, we reached out to Verizon for more information and a representative got back to us with an explanation. The official word is that the device is currently not yet certified on Big Red’s 4G LTE network, which is why it could not be activated. But worry not, as Verizon is in the process of certifying it.

So no reason to jump the gun yet, although no estimated date has been given for the certification. Of course, we’ll let you know when we receive more information regarding the matter.

Thanks, Albert!
