ViewRanger is the name of an application described as a GPS-adventure app and trail-guide for hikers and bicyclists. The company behind the application has announced another major upgrade for the Android version of the app. The new upgrade is available on Google Play right now and brings ViewRanger to version 4.0.

The big feature in this upgrade is a new user experience. This new user experience promises to make the apps key features easier to access using finger swipes. The major features that can be accessed using gestures include the applications advanced active navigation and access to control guides from across the world. The app also has the ability to record and share location-based adventure content online.

The company says that it gathered information from all sorts of users around the world including hikers, cyclists, and mountain rescue teams for the latest app update. The new version of the application allows users to set up their own gesture-based shortcuts. The app is also integrated with social services like twitter and Flickr.

The app also supports route plotting, recorded GPS track analysis, and map printing from a larger desktop screen. Other features of the update include new home menu access by swiping the right side of the screen. The map screen and map menus have been redesigned and speed or distance is viewable while on the map. You can download the new version of the app right now.
